Frequently Asked Questions About Botox
How much does Botox cost in NYC?
The cost of Botox therapy at our medical spa in NYC varies by individual. Understanding that everyone's face is unique, the final price is determined by Dr. Silich. Our staff is able to provide general area estimates only. Dr. Silich charges per half-bottle of Botox, or for a full bottle, depending on individual muscular features and personal aesthetic goals. A half bottle generally covers full Botox treatment in one large area such as the forehead or jaw line (masseter), or it can be used for lighter Botox treatment in multiple areas. Full Botox treatment in multiple facial areas, or Underarm Botox, generally requires a full bottle. Is Botox right for everyone?
Botox is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for smoothing moderate to severe frown lines in women and men between the ages of 18 and 65. Certain conditions may make treatment with Botox unadvisable for those who:
- have an infection where Botox will be injected
- are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant soon
- are breastfeeding
- have any diseases that affect the nerves and muscles
For more information, please consult with Dr. Silich at our day spa in NYC.
What problems can Botox treat?
While you may know that Botox is an excellent way to treat frown lines between the brows, you may not be aware that it has several other cosmetic uses. Dr. Silich uses Botox at our NYC spa for:
- Underarm Botox Treatment – The underarm Botox treatments at Shizuka New York are designed to reduce sweat production under the arms. If you want to avoid embarrassing sweaty pit stains during stifling New York summers, consider our NYC underarm Botox treatments.
- Botox Jaw Reduction – An enlarged jaw muscle can give your face a masculine appearance. A Botox jaw reduction is designed to reduce the jaw muscle and give the face a more feminine oval shape.
- Botox Pore Reduction – Through our pore reduction treatments, Botox targets the muscles that control pore size. By closing pores, this treatment can give your skin a smooth, matte finish.
Does Botox hurt?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Prior to injecting, an anesthetic cream is sometimes applied by Dr. Silich to the area to be treated.
How long does Botox treatment take?
The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. Many people are in and out of our NYC medical spa without downtime following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment making it convenient to fit into any schedule.
When will I see results?
Generally speaking, results from Botox are not immediate. On average, the full effects of Botox become evident 4 to 7 days following treatment. Those preparing for a special event should plan their Botox treatments accordingly.
Can I return to work or go out after a Botox injection?
Yes. Mild to moderate redness may occur at the site of Botox injection, but this usually resolves within a few hours and is easily covered with makeup. This makes Botox treatment at our NYC day spa perfect as a lunchtime procedure. However, we do not recommend Botox on the day of a special event (see "When will I see results" above). Please keep in mind that you should not consume alcohol after Botox injections.
How long does Botox last?
Results from treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic can last for up to 4 months. If you discontinue treatment, the frown lines between your brows gradually will look like they did before treatment.
Can I combine Botox with a Shizuka NY facial treatment?
Yes, we recommend having a facial before Botox treatment.
