What is an Eyelash Extension?
An eyelash extension is a synthetic eyelash that is attached to your natural lash using a specialized adhesive. Our NYC Eyelash Extensions are darker in color (2 shades are available) and add drama to lashes that are thin and light-colored without the need for mascara. Eyelash extensions also carry a slight curl which adds a natural-looking openness to your eyes.
Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent because they are affixed to the natural lashes. When an eyelash naturally falls out, the eyelash extension attached to it will also fall out. Brief touch-up appointments every 3-4 weeks can help to maintain a full look.
Do I need to remove my eye makeup before having eyelash extensions?
Yes, please remove all eye makeup (especially mascara) before your NYC eyelash extensions treatment. This will allow the eyelash extensions to properly adhere to your natural eyelashes.
Shizuka New York Day Spa provides complimentary eye makeup remover in our makeup lounge area. Please arrive a few minutes before your eyelash extensions appointment if you wish to remove your eye makeup in the spa.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
NYC eyelash extensions generally last 4-6 weeks, depending on the growth cycle of the lashes, and the level of maintenance.
Do you have any tips for maintaining my eyelash extensions?
Please avoid wetting your eyelashes immediately following your NYC eyelash extension treatment. This includes showers, swimming, and sweating through exercise.
Avoid rubbing and scratching the eyelashes. Do not use harsh makeup remover or eyelash curlers as this may cause the lashes to break, fall off, or bend.
Having an eyelash extensions touch-up session (30 or 60 minutes are available) every 3-4 weeks will allow you to maintain the look.
Can I combine eyelash extensions with an eyelash perm?
No, we do not recommend combining our NYC eyelash extensions with an eyelash perm.
In the case of perming over extensions, the perm solution may dissolve or weaken the extension adhesive. In the case of extensions over a perm, extensions may not adhere properly, and may result in an unnatural and undesirable look.
Can I combine eyelash extensions with eyelash tinting?
There is no need to combine eyelash extensions with eyelash tinting. If you have light-colored eyelashes, our NYC eyelash extensions should be darker than your natural color. When they are affixed to your natural lashes, the eyelash extensions will immediately make them look darker...without mascara!
