What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is a gel made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in your skin. When Juvederm is injected beneath the surface of the skin, its cross-linked hyaluronic acid bonds to the water in your skin to create instant volume that lasts up to one year.
Juvederm treatments are FDA approved to smooth the creases around your mouth (nasolabial folds) for up to one year. In addition, Juvederm is also commonly used in NYC to treat thin, inadequate lips and sagging under-eye areas.
What is a nasolabial fold?
Nasolabial folds are creases that run from your nose around the corners of your mouth. They are often compared to parentheses around the mouth. As we age, nasolabial folds can become deeper and more pronounced. Therefore, smoothing the nasolabial folds with a Juvederm NYC dermal filler treatment can contribute to a more youthful appearance.

What is the difference between Botox and Juvederm?
Although Botox and Juvederm are both manufactured by Allergan to smooth facial wrinkles, they work in very different ways. Juvederm uses cross-linked hyaluronic acid to add instant volume under the skin's surface while Botox is used to selectively relax facial muscles.
Botox and Juvederm are typically used to treat different parts of the face. Botox is most effective for wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabella), on the forehead, under-eye wrinkles (crow's feet), and neck lines (platysma). Juvederm is appropriate for nasolabial folds around the mouth, sagging under-eye areas, and thin lips.
Can I combine my Juvederm NYC dermal filler treatment with Botox or a Shizuka NY Facial?
Yes. In fact, all three treatments can effectively complement each other for maximum results. We recommend having a cleansing facial before Juvederm and/or Botox treatment.

Juvederm dermal fillers are priced per syringe in our NYC medical spa. Most patients require one dermal filler syringe for treatment of the nasolabial folds. However, deeper wrinkles may sometimes require two syringes.
