That Americans come up with crazy, weird beauty treatments is nothing new to us. At least we thought so until our New York reporter Silke Haas told us she had a facial with bird droppings! For a full 130 euros the trend is to make the skin as smooth as a baby's butt with bird poop! And so our colleague visited Shizuka New York Day Spa to try out the so-called "Geisha Facial." |
 "Nightingale droppings" are what the spa owner so elegantly calls that which comes from a bird's behind. Silke Haas sniffed the droppings and concluded "It's not what I would call a beautiful smell..."

The nightingale excrement, powdered and sterilized with UV light, is mixed with an aromatic rice flour and laid on before a deep pore cleaning. The face is then massaged for several minutes with the special mix. |
"It feels a little bit grainy and smells mealy. I look forward to the outcome, " said Silke Haas. |
 After 50 minutes of treatment, the conclusion: "My face is smooth as a baby's behind and a bit lighter, supposedly due to the guano," said the RTL reporter, "and my skin feels very relaxed."
