NYC Restylane Treatments
Restylane treatments help smooth away facial wrinkles by restoring hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance made by the body that gives skin its volume and fullness by attracting and binding water molecules. This substance, which is found between the two upper layers of skin, is most plentiful in young children. However, sunlight and other factors break down the compound over time, and, by age 50, studies show that about half of a person’s hyaluronic acid is gone.
Wrinkles that form when hyaluronic acid breaks down can be erased when the body’s hyaluronic acid is replaced through Restylane treatments. Ever since the treatment was introduced in 1996, Restylane injections have helped millions of people take years off of their appearance. Restylane Treatment FAQ
How does Restylane work?
Restylane restores your face’s fullness through injections of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid gel. This substance works with the body’s own hyaluronic acid to attract water molecules and add volume to facial tissue.
Where can Restylane be used?
While Restylane has been used around the world for years to smooth deep folds and increase lip fullness, it is currently only indicated in the US for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles. It is generally used to smooth the nasolabial folds, also known as smile lines.
Are Restylane treatments safe?
Restylane has been approved by the FDA for facial treatments. Because Restylane is not animal-based like many dermal fillers, the risks associated with it are extremely minimal. The most common side effects are redness and swelling, and these irritations generally last only a couple days. As with any injection, Restylane also carries a small risk of infection.
Who should not use Restylane?
Don’t use Restylane if you:
- Are pregnant
- Are breastfeeding
- Are under 18
- Have severe allergies
- Use drugs that thin blood or prevent clotting
Are you a candidate for Restylane?
How should I prepare for Restylane treatments?
You can minimize bruising or bleeding at the site of your injections by avoiding anti-inflammatory medication, aspirin or high doses of Vitamin E the week before your Restylane treatments.
Don’t I need to be pre-tested?
While allergy tests are required for many collagen dermal fillers, Restylane is not animal-based, and therefore do not require allergy tests. It is extremely rare for a patient to be allergic to the chemicals used in Restylane.
Do Restylane treatments hurt?
Because Restylane is injected into the skin through an ultra fine needle, patients only experience minimal discomfort.
At our New York Day Spa, Dr. Robert Silich may also apply an anesthetic cream before Restylane treatment.
How soon will I see the effects of Restylane?
You’ll see the effects of your Restylane treatment immediately. To maximize the benefits of your treatment, do not massage the treated area for 48 hours after the injection.
What are the side effects?
You’ll most likely experience some swelling or redness right after your Restylane treatment. This is normal, and should only last a few days. Avoiding extreme heat or cold while these side effects are present can expedite recovery time.
How permanent is Restylane?
Restylane treatments naturally dissolve after six to nine months. Treatment is recommended twice a year.
How much does Restylane cost?
Because Restylane treatments are customized for each individual, cost varies from patient to patient. The price is based on the number of syringes needed. For a consultation that can determine your specific Restylane needs, contact Shizuka New York at (212) 644-7400 or contact@ShizukaNY.com.
