Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is an Asian massage treatment that uses finger pressure and stretching to enhance an energetic flow throughout the body, balancing body and mind.  At SHIZUKA NY Day Spa in Manhattan, this specific energy work along the body's meridians is frequently combined with the relaxing muscle-targeting work of Swedish Massage (below).  this produces a uniquely comprehensive and restorative massage experience.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage dates back to the mid 1800s when it was known as the "Movement Cure." It is used to stimulate the circulation of blood and lymph which can aid in the release of toxins and a healthier overall feeling.  Using lightly scented oil, the pressure of the massage can be adjusted from a gentle, relaxing touch to a more stimulating muscle-warming one.  This full-body massage at our NYC spa may also include light stretching to help loosen specific muscles.

Coffee Break Mud Wrap

The invigorating aroma of ground Arabica coffee is at the heart of the Coffee Break Mud Wrap.  This therapeutic treatment simultaneously sloughs away dead skin cells while drawing impurities and cellulite-inducing water from the skin.  Wrapping the body under infrared heat lamps helps the body to release toxins.  After a refreshing shower, you will have had your caffeine fix while toning, detoxifying, and refining your skin.  This treatment is perfect when followed by a 50-Minute Massage.

Let us provide special attention to a body area that is so often neglected! Our Back Treatment offers deep cleaning of enlarged pores and the treatment of acne breakouts on the back. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and a back massage reduces muscle tension. Relax and have clear skin at the same time!

An excess of dead skin cells can give the entire body surface a dull, rough, and uneven texture. At SHIZUKA NY Day Spa in Manhattan, a combination of Fine Granular Mineral Salt Scrubs and Japanese Rice Bran extracts is used to remove these dead cells—one body part at a time—giving the skin a younger, smoother look.

Infrared Sauna

Infrared Saunas use far infrared radiation to safely penetrate deep into the skin, helping to remove toxins and stimulate tissue.  Although the air temperature does not get as warm as in conventional saunas, the infrared radiation is able to heat the skin in a way that is safe and beneficial.

Infrared Sauna use is complimentary with any massage at our New York City Day Spa.  It is perfect as a detox break before massage and body treatments.  Towel service and showers are available at no additional cost.
